The transition in India is happening at pace, backed by the government and a dynamic entrepreneurial society, however this is not necessarily reflected in the car market. India has a 2040 phase-out date, one of the fastest transitions among developing countries. The majority of drivers in India are in two and three wheelers - this is where funding has been targeted and electrification is underway.

The current transition is happening unevenly, with growth focused on areas where there has been an accompanying push from state legislatures.
