EVs in Malta have seen year-on-year growth, with EVs becoming more popular on the island. Some financial benefits are available to motorists, including a grant scheme. Malta has pledged funding of up to 15 million euros for 2024 for these subsidies. However, this funding is intended to cover the whole range of cars, vans, buses and other electrified vehicles.

As well as this scheme Malta has a scrappage scheme which adds monetary value to the grant. This has largely been funded by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Plan fund. This newly launched scheme is one of the most generous grants available.
