EVs have taken a significant portion of the market in Portugal with continued year-on-year growth.

Government policies have helped to increase EV popularity in the country. It releases a new round of funding each year for grants, and BEVs are exempt from registration tax and road tax, whilst the energy used to charge an EV is VAT exempt. As well as a buoyant new car market, imported used EVs have also been gaining traction in the country as it attracts used EVs into its borders. 

Portugal must ensure that incentives are maintained and the infrastructure is expanded at a suitable rate as more and more EVs are registered.
