The UK EV market was hit by a delay in the phase-out of petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030 to 2035, criticised by manufacturers and infrastructure providers. The government has however legislated for a Zero Emission Vehicle mandate, which sets an annual target for EV sales - increasing from 22% in 2024 to 80% by 2030 dampening the effects of this delay. Manufacturers in the UK hit their targets, using flexibilities in the scheme for 2024.

The UK faces several challenges, including retaining confidence in the charging network, now expanding rapidly.
