Driver Attitudes to EVs

New polling conducted by Dynata on behalf of New AutoMotive surveyed a representative sample of 1,000 drivers in each of six countries, to get fresh insights on their attitudes towards automakers’ role in the Electric Vehicles (EV) transition.

Countries covered include: USA, UK, France, India, Indonesia, and Japan

EXCERPT

This study had three primary goals, including understanding:

  • Attitudes towards electric vehicles in 6 key countries;

  • Consumer acceptance of corporate lobbying against EVs;

  • Accuracy of consumer perceptions of EVs.

A majority of drivers in all countries surveyed apart from Japan said they would avoid buying a car from a company that lobbied against climate change policy

A majority of drivers in the UK (58%), France (51%), India (86%) and Indonesia (83%) want their own car brand to support policies to increase EV sales, and phase out Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) car sales.

In most countries surveyed, young (18-34 years) drivers were more likely to want their car brand to support climate policy.
