A plan to speed up the transition to electric vehicles in the UK

The report includes a previously unpublished market forecast from New AutoMotive which shows that without a ZEV mandate, hybrids will come to dominate the market by 2030, with around 70% market share, and fully electric vehicles having the other 30%. This is not in-line with the UK’s net zero carbon targets since hybrids are not net zero vehicles.
We welcome the UK government’s intention to establish a ZEV mandate in the UK. This report sets out our recommendations for the design of the scheme.
